Keep Australia Beautiful Week is held late August each year to raise awareness about the simple things we can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage action.
Everyone can play a role in keeping Australia litter-free. Just by encouraging all those who love a clean environment to participate in simple, on-the-ground environmental improvement activities, we can help build a more environmentally healthy, vibrant and inclusive community.
Here are some things you can do today to keep Australia Beautiful:
- Pick up one piece of rubbish per day for the week.
- Pack a rubbish-free lunch with reusable containers and bottles.
- Bring your own keep-cup to enjoy your take-away coffee.
- Put a 'no junk mail' sign on your mailbox.
- Report abandoned shopping trolleys.
You can also start plogging? It’s where you pick up rubbish along your jog or walk and people are getting involved all around the world. Small steps can make a big difference, so why not start the week with a plog?
We love the idea of small actions that make big change. Shop sustainable, use sustainable and think sustainable will help us keep this great country neat and tidy!
If you’d like to be involved in the Keep Australia Beautiful Week competition can register to participate in a clean-up in the area of your choice (beach, lake, river, creek or anywhere that leads to a waterway) and remove everything that does not belong there.
