Have a heap of leftover wine cork stoppers and not sure what to do with them? A great way to make use of them is to turn them into mini succulent planters.

These make cute decoratives in your home or office. They also make cheap and sustainable wedding favours and bonbonnieres. .

These DIY mini succulent planters are super easy to make too.

Here are the tools and equipment you’ll need:

  • Wine cork stoppers
  • Newly propagated succulents
  • Soil mix (you can buy bags from your local nursery)
  • Paring knife
  • Drill bit or screwdriver
  • Water
  • Compost bin

Step 1. Create a hole in the cork.

To turn the corks into miniature pots for your newly propagated succulents, you’ll need to create a hole deep enough for some soil and your succulents. You can use a paring knife to make an incision into the cork and once you’ve been able to do this, you can use a drill bit or screwdriver to dig the cork out.

Step 2. Fill in with soil.

Don’t fill completely, make sure to leave enough room for the succulent.

Step 3. Pop in succulent.

Once you’ve popped in the succulent, make sure to fill the rest of the hole with soil.

Step 4. Water your succulent.

Using a dropper or spray bottle, simply water your succulent.

Step 5. Ready to decorate.

You’re now ready to decorate with the succulent planter. Place it in a spot that gets plenty of sunlight. Succulents are hardy and can handle some neglect, but you’ll still need to water it every week.

Step 6. Compost the cork bits.

Cork is a natural material so make sure to compost the cork bits when you’ve finished making the succulent planters.
