Blue Spirulina Summer Smoothie Recipe

Blue Spirulina Summer Smoothie

Blue Spirulina Smoothie Bowl

Doesn’t this smoothie bowl just make you want to pack your bags and head for a tropical island?

This simple smoothie recipe is perfect for summer and is a great vegan smoothie bowl made mostly from banana and coconut.

We are using blue spirulina which is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants; it boosts the immune system, increases energy, helps regulate metabolism, and assists with digestion. Although spirulina isn’t high in protein, it’s a complete protein and it contains more amino acids per ounce than any other food on the planet.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 coconut yogurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp blue spirulina

METHOD

  1. Add all your ingredients into a high speed blender.
  2. Blend for 1-2 minutes or until the mixture becomes thicker.
  3. Remove the smoothie from the blender and transfer to your coconut bowls or coconut cups.
  4. You can use whatever toppings you want. Some ideas are fresh berries, kiwi fruit, dragon fruit, cubed pineapple, shredded coconut, granola/nuts, hemp seeds.

You can make all kinds of things with superfood powders besides smoothies and smoothie bowls. I’ve also seen chia puddings, crepes, cakes and pancakes.
